I purchased my second pair of these shoes so I would have an extra pair for the future. I wear an orthotic in my right shoes and these shoes have plenty of room for that with the two removable foot pads. There is plenty of room in the toe box which is important for me. They have been durable for almost 2 years and I have worn them hiking at home and in the mountains in Colorado and North Carolina and other than some abrasions on the toes they are holding up well. The waterproofing is solid in puddles an inch or two deep which is all you can ask for a low top walking shoe. They are a little warm in the summer due to the waterproof membrane, but comfortable most of the year. The only improvement I would want is a nice toe cap as I tend to bang my toes into roots and rocks. While I consider them expensive, their durability and fit justified the price. Glad I found Drew Shoes.Fit - toe area and arch fit. Too many shoes I have tried were not really 4E in my opinion. Toe area was too tight or the arch area was too tight/small. These shoes seem alright - fitting wise...but they leather is stiff and requires a lot of wear to break them in. Because of this break-in period, I wear them around the house during the day. This helps to loosen the stiffness, but it takes a lot of walking (as I know from experience) to really loosen the leather for casual wear. I wanted leather for the durability, but it would be n ice if shoes could be worn by the machines I see used for testing...softening the leathers. I don't have an immediate opinion at this time. Still trying to wear them enough to feel ok to wear them out of the house. But the toe area is good...an area that previous shoes have not don't so well.I usually buy New Balance shoes as they come in 4E sizes. Glad I found Drew shoes as they make 4E & 6E sizes too. After owning 2 or 3 pairs of New Balance hikers I would say these hikers are a better quality than the New Balance ones. This is reflected in the price as they cost $50 to $60 more than the New Balance shoes. If they hold up well, then they are worth the price.I have terrible feet due to bunions. But trying to find a "true" size from any company is extremely difficult. I took a drawing of my feet, measured my feet as suggested by other companies and ordered these shoes based on that, AND THE REVIEWS! Wrong! Too tight in width and toe box. BUT, the good news is that I was able to return these with no issue. For a normal foot, these would be on my feet. But?These are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned a lot of $200 shoes. They are sturdy and look very nice. I was shy about ordering from a company I had never heard of but oh my goodness they are amazingly comfortable. I’m a big guy at 6’5 weighing in at 260 and I feel like I’m walking on clouds. You have a customer for life!A double depth shoe with great fit and comfort. The heal is 1/2 studs which wear well but 1/2 the heal is narrow raised tread which wear rapidly over several months. Not what I expect for a $200 shoeI have these big, wide feet which makes it very difficult to find shoes that come even close to the Goldilocks zone. I usually end up with big, ugly Herman Munster looking grandpa shoes that take forever to adjust to. These however, are the first shoes I’ve gotten for a very long time that were like Cinderella’s glass slipper. They fit perfectly and didn’t look too schlumpy. This are a very high quality boot. Well, let's hope so, they are a bit pricey! I wear them with my orthotics and find them quite comfortable. Toe box is a little higher than I'm used to, but this insures no rubbing on my hammertoe. I believe that anyone who has over pronation issues will find the soles to be wider for stability and torrisionally rigid to keep the feet stable.I'd buy em again!
