I buy a new pair every 6 months or 1,000 miles. My Merrells started to fall apart after 500 miles. No break-in required. This shoe has a very stiff and aggressive sole. I tend to walk rail road tracks and these shoe really protect my feet from irregular footing. (Slag and ties)Wear them everyday for construction work. Comfortable for the 9 hour days. Would highly recommend these shoesVery goodThese are GREAT trail shoes. I live in Colorado and hike throughout the week - whether taking my dog to the park or in the mountains on the weekend - I'm out quite a bit.I like the support and grip with these. I do have weak ankles so have to be careful (I do wear my Hoffman Explorer 10" tall boots when anticipating any rough trails, when I'm completely off trail and/or carrying a pack). However, for most typical Colorado trails which are heavily used, the Bridger Low's are fantastic. They maintain their support with a moderate load (day-pack with up to 30lbs - lots of water!) and have pretty good waterproofing given that they are low-cut. The fit is a good match for my feet (normal heel width, wide-ish forefoot, overall low volume and medium arch) and have a roomy toe box.I do re-condition the leather with Montana Pitch-Blend leather dressing, but my shoes do get a fair bit of wear.... The price has jumped significantly since i bought mine which is unfortunate as they are approximating the price of actual boots.I have always worn heavy hiking boots with steel shanks. They provided great support and protection for the hikes I used to do. However, I don't do those hikes anymore and needed something that was lighter but would still provide good support for my feet. I saw the description and reviews for these Oboz Bridger Low boots and took a chance. The first impression was that these things are stiff. I mean, really stiff. They felt more like road cycling shoes than hikers and I hoped they'd loosen up a little. After the first day the foot insole molded to my feet and they loosened up a little. After about 10 or 15 miles of use, they're still a little stiff but not so much that you can't use them as daily shoes. I've used them in the office and on dirt and road walks and they're working fine. The cleats/outsoles are pretty rugged and, in my opinion, relegate them more to trails and hikes versus daily wearing on concrete. If you're looking for something to wear around the office or wear on hard surfaces, there are probably better choices. With that said, I am using them daily. The toe box width is good and gives me lots of room to move. I can't attest to their waterproof ability. They're low hikers so regardless, if you're out on the trail, water will likely seep in from the ankles. That's not a knock on these Oboz but is just a reality to the type of boot it is. I wear an 11 and these fit fine but there's not a lot of extra room. I won't wear thick socks with these...they're summer hikers. Wearing mid-weight hiking socks was ok. Again, the 11s fit almost perfectly but don't leave a lot of extra room for thick socks. Regular crew socks just about fill these out without getting tight. The heels fit fine and don't slip. I have high arches and these feel fine. I have little foot fatigue when worn on long walks/hikes of 6 or 7 miles (so far) whereas other shoes will leave my feet tired. I got the Dark Shadow and my wife says they look good so they get style points. They're not cheap but, if they hold up, they are a really good option for the person looking for a stiff, light hiker.Getting tired of shoes that are comfortable out of the box but don’t last. These are sturdy and well made. Took some time to break in but it was worth it.These shows are a bit heavy but built very well/ rugged. These are for serious hikers. They also look great.Bought for daily dog walking in all weathers and general country use. This USA made shoe is robustly constructed like good shoes used to be manufactured. So far they have proved to be comfortable out of the box, waterproof and with robust soles that deal well with stony slippy conditions. For a reasonable price they are a "best buy" for me. Recommended.I wanted a walking shoe that was a bit more robust than the ones available on the high street. My usual source didn't have my size so I took to Amazon. They arrived as promised.I have never had a pair of shoes that were so instantly comfortable. They are are robust design and look to pretty much what I wanted.Feel really durable but the fit was quite narrow up front for me. Length was ok and normal size for me otherwise. Just tapered front.A very nice shoe they fit me perfectly and also comfortable, more so than my Merrell shoes which I usually buy, so yes I am very pleased with my purchase.I wanted a pair of waterproof walking shoes and these certainly fit the bill they are a cross between a walking boot and a walking dog walking activities extremely well
