I haven't hiked in these a lot yet but I prob wouldn't buy these again. They are made of quality materials and I like how they look but they don't fit my feet as well as other boots. They seem to run a bit narrow for me. The "customizable" insoles are cheaply made and are very thin. This may be exactly what some people want but not this 65 yr old day hiker. I could see these being liked by a younger hiker. I know Merrels and Keens are supposed to be very "average" boots but I seem to like them over these and the Salomons that I have tried.Like most of these top end hikers these fit like a glove and feel amazing on your feet. Yes I would buy them again. I'e had Merrill's and Oboz (twice the same boot over 7 years) and these are both magnificent boots. But these Salewa Alp Trainer 2 Mid GTX feel like a tier above. One observation I have that may be different is the strings they use never come undone unless you want them to. In other words your boots never become untied. Oddly I found that to be a big plus. They can get warm, while hiking, like the Oboz full leather do but I guess I am just used to it and it doesn't bother me. Maybe the comfort is too overwhelming. The boots seem to be well made and very light weight. The fit just as expected. Better insoles would have gotten them five stars out of the box. I would definitely purchase again.I love Salewa boots and have owned 2 pairs of the previous Alp Trainer Mid GTX. When I finally wore through the soles of 1 pair I replaced them with this new model "2". Overall, they are a descent boot. Well made, good sole, quick break-in. I'm just disappointed in how they compare the the previous version. The old version were ridiculously comfortable - like a good fitting athletic shoe. These fit more like a bulky boot. They replaced the lacing loops with slots in the top of the boot. This makes it harder to tighten/loosen the laces and get a good fit. There are only 2 lacing hooks at the top instead of 3. Now the 3rd one is permanent and it makes it harder to get the boot on and off. I don't believe the tongue is actually gore-tex on these because the top of the foot gets noticeably colder in cold weather. Also the tongue is super puffy on top and takes extra effort to tuck it into the sides of the boot when lacing. Because the tongue is so big on top you end up feeling the laces more on the front of your ankle and its less comfortable than the boot wrapping around your ankle.Their ok as boots go, so I kept them, but I will not buy another pair of this model and wait to see if version 3 is improved.Great shoeThey fit great, super quality buildI've owned lots of pairs of premium hikers through the years but, these are by far the most comfortable, well fitting, and lightweight hikers I've ever purchased right out of the box. Time will tell how well they hold up but, they appear to be very well made on first look. I normally wear a 10.5 and i ordered an 11 just for extra room in the toe box and they fit great, no slipping at all. I wear these type boots every day at work, so I need comfort and durability above all else. I'm super impressed so far.Update: It's been over a year now and I've worn them almost every day at work. I work outside. They're still waterproof, the soles are getting worn but still plenty left, they're very comfy, I'm buying another pair next year. I'm going to easily get two years out of these boots. Thy're holding up just great!Gran Marca, son mis cuartos pares, son muy buenas y traen dos juegos de plantillas para adaptar el confort que a uno prefieraI ended up purchasing this because of the lack of options in gore-tex, thanks to pandemic. They looked nice without any doubt and the break in time also wasn't much: turned out that was all there was to this shoe. They got drenched on crossing a small rivulet (hardly 3 ft wide with little water), which I was not expecting at all. Also the fabric is suede which is the cheapest leather available. At this price it should be full grain, or atleast nubuck.I trek frequently in the Himalayan region and needed a good shoe but this was a complete disappointment. I do not find the ones at decathlon good, and was aiming for an improvement, but given the price and the quality of this shoe, I realised this was a waste of money on a poor quality product. Wasserdicht, out of the box sehr sehr angenehm zu tragen und alles in allem Spitzenqualität. Ob wandern oder Eventarbeit am Feld, die Schuhe sind sehr zu empfehlen! ??
