Fits to size of my other Salomo's, light and breathable. I find that the laces are quite short with just enough to tie a small knot.I tried over 6 different pairs of shoes with the try before you buy deal. This is the pair I ended up with. They fit great and after walking 5-10 miles my feet didnt hurt. I will say, standing up in one spot did get a bit painful, but that might not be entirely the shoes fault. I would recommend these shoes for walking, hiking, or working many hours a day. On a side note, i did purchase Lock Laces to go along with it and they work amazing. The toe box can't be too small, My big toe can't touch the top and my high arch forces me to use inserts for added support. Usually my experience is it takes a week or so for my brain to acclimate to a new pair of shoes. These were different. I had to get used to the the arch support being there, had to walk around a minuity or two and my brain and feet were happy. My toes had plenty of room and fit perfect. The overall support was perfect as if they were tailored for my foot. I had them for a week before using them in a 27 basket Disc Golf Tournament involving elevation change and loose footing. They could not have forked better for me. I am a good 50lbs. over weight, so they had a lot of stress put on them. I never lost traction and my ankle and footing always feels secure and very comfortable while the strength of the shoe under my foot felt very strong like a soccer cleat. Nether the morning dew on the grass or the incidental creek water entered threw the sides of the material.Because I noticed a quarter inch blemish where seam was open from a stitching defect I decided to return them and get a new pair. The second pair on one shoe had an isue where as I walked I had the sensation the shoe was roiling forward to the right. My thought is that there was a defect in treed. I have since sent those back and am waiting for my credit to order a third pair. So, if you are looking for shoe that provides good traction on a solid platform, a wide toe box and a comfortable fit with significant arch support. Give these a try. Originally I was going to rank these 5 stars, but as im still having trouble receiving a shoe that is made properly I can only give it 4. Having to order 3 times to get the right shoe, although for me to get a shoe that fits like the first one did and have no defects if worth ordering multiple times. I feel it is appropriate to bring down the shoes overall score as that part of the shoe experience. I expect mine is not the norm. These fit as expected and feel comfortable. I've only worn them a few times, but they were well tested. I like the shoes and will continue to use them. The tongue is just a little short, so when tying the laces I have to pull the tongue up under the bow so it's tight. Other than a short tongue, which really doesn't affect the fit or comfort, these shoes are great! My last few pairs of running shoes consistently gave me blistered heels that no amount of tape, ankle gaiters or long socks could fix. My heels and mid-feet are simply too narrow for the shoes sold at most retail shops. This year I've gone online to search for" running shoes for narrow feet", and one of the consistently mentioned brands is Salomon. I took a chance on these X Crest hiking shoes, and have been gleefully galloping along the trails with nary a blister on the heel while I've worn them. Many reviews have mentioned that you should order a size up if you choose Salomon, and this is one of them. I normally wear a size 10.5 US (43-44 EU) shoe, but I ordered an 11.5 (46) here. The size 11.5 fits my foot almost perfectly. I can lace up the shoe tight enough that my mid-foot and heel are nice and snug, yet there is enough room in the toe box that my toes can splay out without squishing against each other. I wasn't able to get that sort of fit with my previous shoes - if I tightened the laces so the heel was tight, they were too tight in the mid-foot and toe. If I loosened the laces to free the toes, the shoe flopped around my foot. The X Crest shoe has finally provided me with the fit that I sought. One other part of the X Crest shoe that I can appreciate is the rounded heel. Other shoes have a padded sole that extends out from the heel. Unfortunately for me, that part acts as a scoop, lifting dirt & debris up as I pick up my foot. This debris inevitably finds its way into the shoe, rubbing between the shoe and sock and ultimately blistering my heel. The X Crest rounded heel prevents that scoop, and even though I've run through miles of dirty, dusty trails with these shoes, I have yet to find a single pebble in my sock.In my opinion the Salomon X Crest trail running shoes are a good choice for those who have narrow feet and want to run around dirty, dusty trails without worrying about blisters. Just be sure to follow the recommendation of ordering one size up from your normal shoe size. These shoes look good and have performed well so far in the wet spring of the Pocono mountains of PA and the dry, climate of the desert canyons surrounding Palm Springs CA. I found the insoles to be substandard, and have replaced them with Superfeet Carbons. Also , not enthused with the laces, as they tend to come undone unless double tied. They are otherwise sturdy, with good protection around the toe box, and give excellent traction in different environments.Solomon, aways make excellent products. I own the Solomon hiking boots?Muy cómodos, muy buena marca, excelente relación precio calidadI have bought Salomon footwear before and thought the sizing would be the same. Unfortunately these were so narrow at opening that foot could not fit in. Very disappointed. Awaiting refund. These are the most comfortable and leighton weight hiking shoes I’ve ever worn. They also look awesome!Top tip though is go either a 1/2 or full size up for extra comfort.
