The shoe is a decent trail.and everyday wear shoe. There is not a lot of cushion. You can feel the ground well under your feet, if understanding the ground you're treading on is your goal. Not great for long treks.The closed heel portion does not secure well no matter how you tie the shoe. I find there is slippage. Shoe inserts don't seem to make a difference regarding closed heel No blisters yet, but I haven't gone on any serious outings.
