On and off the track. In dry or rainy weather. The versatile adidas Terrex Swift R3 GORE-TEX hiking shoe is designed for a wide range of trails, from trail running to scrambling and via ferrata. The waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX outsole with Continental rubber ™
I hike 10-12 miles of wooded trails each week. In warm and dry weather, an old pair of New Balance sneakers has done the job quite well. But with fall setting in and winter to come, I needed something with more grip and ideally, waterproof. The tread on these tires — ahem, shoes — is great for damp and wet soil, gravel, etc. Small to medium size tree roots don't pose much of a problem. Walking on asphalt feels a bit like wearing cleats, and will likely wear them down quickly, so don't do that. Stick to grass, dirt, mud, and snow with these. While they're a bit stiff out of the box, after a few miles they seem to have loosened up some.Unfortunately, some of the other reviews listing drawbacks are pretty accurate. I am a solid size 12 and with the provided insole (a thin liner), these allow for a little bit of toe movement and a lot of heel movement. Seems like they run a half size too big in these places. Remember those old New Balance sneakers I mentioned? No problems whatsoever, hiking hundreds of miles this year. My first 3.5 mile short hike in these left both my big toes sore on the insides, and I ended up with a one inch blister on the inside of my left heel! I will definitely be putting my preferred sport orthotic insoles in these to use up some of the extra space, and wearing thicker socks as well. All in all: this is a very well made, stylish shoe with a great tread pattern and excellent water resistance, but you might need to jump through some hoops to avoid rubbing, especially in the heel area.3rd pair of these shoes. I've had the gortex option and without gortex, I can't say it mattered much to me. So there's no significant difference in comfort if you're looking at either and on the fence. They're a great all around shoe, though if you're primarily using them for hiking, I would avoid using on concrete or asphalt because they'll wear faster. I've had my pairs last over two years. I'll usually buy a new pair and start breaking it in a few hours at a time while my outgoing shoe still has tread in the middle of the ball(front pad) of your foot. If you see the option of shoes with the speed laces, those are awesome and I highly recommend them over regular laces. My current pair doesn't have the Adidas speed laces, but I'm going to try to find some. Excellent shoe, would buy again and again.I wear a size 9 in most shoes, but after wearing a couple dozen adidas shoes in my life I know they run narrow around the toes and ball of the foot so I purchased a 9.5 and they’re still pretty tight along the front. All the same, very snug and comfortable especially around the ankle and arch. Soles are squeaky when new and I can’t comment on the durability. Very comfortable for walking, running and light hiking! But I’m glad I got a half size larger than usual or I would be in pain.I have been getting the Adidas shoes with Gore-Tex for a while now and love them. This is the first time with this specific one. After just a few weeks the rubber cracked where the shoe flexes when walking. This seems to be cosmetic. My feet have not gotten wet. These are my daily shoes but I work from home so they aren't used heavily and they did not see any trails or out of the ordinary abuse.Lasted about 3.5 months before a hole opened up on the toe. Mildly waterproof. More like water resistant in reality. Was using at work and I attribute that to the shorter than average life span. As a hiking shoe I’m sure they would last much longer. As a work shoe, not durable enough. As you can see from the photos, I put these shoes to the test through mud and dirt and water. The good news is that they do exactly what they are supposed to do. They are rugged, COMPLETELY WATERPROOF, and I have no concerns at all about walking through any kind of mushy terrain in the early springtime when the ground is soft and muddy. I bought these specifically because of the waterproof aspect of them. They look great, although on the website the color was a little more of a golden-ish brown, and these were almost completely army green. Keep that in mind if this color attracts you.I have a few criticisms of these shoes. My number one criticism is the fit. This is hard to describe accurately and fairly because they are, sort of, comfortable - once you break them in. However, after an extended period of time, I get to the point to where I am ready to get them off. For me, the toe box is just a little too narrow. Because of the stiffness of these shoes, there is absolutely no give in them at all, so I do find that after walking around in them for multiple hours, I am ready to take them off. In addition to the stiff toe box, the heel is a MAJOR gripe of mine. The heel of the shoe does not capture the heel of my foot AT ALL. Each step I take, my heel is pulling up out of the bottom of the shoe, so imagine taking 10,000 steps in these... that's a lot of skin irritation and potential blisters. When I wear these shoes for a long time, I make sure to prep by putting a large bandaid on both heels to dampen that friction. I read other peoples' reviews before I purchased these and this was a common gripe of other people, so it is very real with the design of these shoes. The general construction of these shoes is that they are VERY tough and stiff, but they are meant to be that way because of their intended use. With that being said, there is hardly any give in these shoes at all, so it is easy to get sore feet in them if you wear them for long periods of time.Overall I think these are a killer design of a shoe, and they do their job well. Just be aware that there is absolutely a need for a break-in period with these shoes. Don't expect to put them on and wear them all day right out of the box. You will definitely have to plan out shorter sessions in them at first until you have them broken in, and even after that they are pretty stiff. In conclusion, I am happy with these shoes, but they do leave room for improvement in a few fit aspects. If they release a future version and improve upon some of those gripes, they would for sure have a five-star shoe.shoe feels comfy on foot. I was worried with the goretex inside the heat would get trapped. There is also good ventilation because I wore it all day and my feet did not feel like they were on fire. definitely designed for the outdoor trails. The rubber on the sole is hard and will scratch up any soft surfaces. over look is fantastic. But I couldn't. I had to send them back. Also because of the defects it had after a few weeks of wearing. For S$189, after just 1 month of use in both warm and cold climate, I can say the following:- they look good but not like in the ads. The front side looks bulky and on the sides you can see the glue. Wonder how long they would last.- in cold weather they are keeping my feet warm and dry. In warm weather my feet is sweaty and super warm. Very uncomfortable. You get blistered!- the grip is good on snow, but very very slippery on wet surfaces (like stepping on a sewage lid when rainy. )- speaking of rain, your feet stays dry- laces are horrible. They unwrap after 2 minute. Need to double knot.- size was good with half number bigger, as other people are suggesting- hill feels slippery and not very well sustained- boot feel robustOverall a nice boot but for the price, I don't want a nice boot. I want an excellent one. Will try salomon next or something without goretex, as goretex membrane feels like sauna for you foot in hot weather. Thanks Amazon for helping me send back the item even after the 30 days.Al dar el paso no se dobla bien, la suela muy dura, y personalmente el arco de plástico que tiene por afuera lastima. Los regrese por esothe shoe fits well, but the sewing is substandard i will be speaking to amazon about this.Muy cómodo
